Study Objectives

The safety and effectiveness of Restylane Volyme for the correction of midface volume deficiencies and cheek augmentation was assessed for 1 year after the treatment.¹

Demographics

142 subjects were randomized to Restylane Volyme and 68 subjects were randomized to the control treatment. The majority of the subjects were female, and the mean age was 53 years.

All subjects had mild to substantial loss of midface fullness according to the Medicis Midface Volume Scale. Restylane Volyme or the control product was injected into the midface, between the maxillary process and nasal alae.¹

Results

Restylane Volyme was well tolerated. Patient satisfaction according to FACE-Q™ scores was high and lasted up to 1 year. The level of aesthetic improvement according to the Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS) was high and maintained at 1 year. The total mean volume required to achieve optimal aesthetic results was significantly less for Restylane Volyme compared to the control.¹

Conclusions

Restylane Volyme was well tolerated and effective in the treatment of midface volume deficits and achieved high subject satisfaction. Less total mean volume of Restylane Volyme was required compared to the control.¹
